waymaker Code of conduct

1. Mission, Vision, and Purpose

Mission Statement

To glorify God though theater, our interactions with others, and our witness to the watching world.

Vision Statement

To impact lives for eternity through uncompromisingly Christ-centered theatrical opportunities, community, and training.

Purpose

Waymaker Arts exists to serve and value others by cultivating their artistic and creative skills through performance and education in the arts, reflecting its mission and vision in all activities.

2. Biblical and Ethical Standards

At Waymaker Arts We strive to be representatives of Christ, all ministry members—including cast, crew, leadership, and volunteers—are expected to:

  • Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects Christ’s love (Colossians 3:17).
  • Uphold integrity, honesty, and respect in all interactions (Ephesians 4:25).
  • Integrity – Live out biblical values consistently, ensuring actions align with truth and faithfulness.
  • Honesty – Be transparent and truthful in all interactions, avoiding deception while fostering trust.
  • Respect – Listen to leadership and do not try to lead when it is not your place. Treat others with dignity, grace and kindness, valuing their contributions and handling conflicts with Christlike love.
  • Foster a culture of encouragement, humility, and servant-hearted leadership (Philippians 2:3-4).
  • Avoid speech or actions that are harmful, derogatory, or divisive (Ephesians 4:29).
  • Ensure that all artistic and personal choices align with our mission to glorify God.
  • Understand that we are a Christian organization first and will begin all our events in prayer.

3. Professionalism and Excellence

As a ministry that strives for artistic and spiritual excellence, all members must:

  • Commit to rehearsal schedules, call times, and production deadlines.
  • Honor the authority of directors, stage managers, and leadership.
  • Approach each performance with diligence, offering our best to God and the audience (Colossians 3:23).
  • Maintain a spirit of teamwork, collaboration, and adaptability.
  • Communicate promptly regarding conflicts with schedules or responsibilities.

4. Community and Relationships

  • Treat all participants with kindness, respect, and fairness, recognizing that each person is made in the image of God.
  • Address conflicts biblically, seeking understanding and, if possible, reconciliation through Matthew 18:15-17.
  • Foster an environment of inclusivity within Christian values, ensuring that all feel welcomed and valued.
  • Maintain appropriate conduct in all relationships to uphold purity and professionalism. During Waymaker activities, avoid being alone in private settings with someone of the opposite sex who is not a family member. Physical touch between cast members should be limited and respectful of those around you. If you have questions or need clarification, please speak with the Artistic Director or Executive Director.

5. Language, Behavior, and Content

  • Avoid profanity, inappropriate jokes, or crude humor, both on and off stage.
  • Ensure that all production choices align with Waymaker Arts’ Christ-centered mission.
  • Maintain modesty in dress and behavior, both on stage and in promotional materials.
  • Abstain from drug or alcohol use during rehearsals, performances, or ministry events.
  • Represent biblical truth in character portrayals while maintaining artistic integrity.

6. Social Media and Public Representation

  • Do not post as a Representative of Waymaker Arts in online interactions without permission from the artistic or executive director.
  • Avoid posts that include inappropriate language, divisive discussions, or content contrary to biblical values when they are connected to Waymaker arts.
  • Ensure that any public statements regarding the ministry align with its mission and leadership guidance.

7. Commitment to Prayer and Spiritual Growth

  • We prioritize prayer and seeking God’s guidance in all aspects of theater production.
  • We ask you to participate in ministry devotions, prayer meetings at rehearsals, or activities as you are willing and able.
  • Be Supportive and uplift fellow members spiritually and emotionally.

8. Enforcement and Accountability

  • Violations of this Code of Conduct will be addressed through private conversations, leadership discussions, and, if necessary, further action based on biblical conflict resolution (Galatians 6:1).
  • Serious breaches may result in removal from a production or ministry involvement.
  • All members must commit to upholding this Code of Conduct, recognizing that it reflects, not only Waymaker Arts’ values, but also our witness to the watching world.

By participating in Waymaker Arts, all members agree to uphold this Code of Conduct, striving to produce Christ-like interactions in both their contributed workmanship and relationships.
